Whatcha doing this weekend?

So it's July 4th weekend and I will be staying at home and doing work. Most of my friends are at AX anyway. But what are you guys (Americans and non-Americans alike) doing this weekend? Any barbeques or picnics? Who's going to watch fireworks? I want to live vicariously! XD

Also, if you're in the Berkeley area (pointedly looks at troisroyaumes, the Berkeley Marina July 4th events are fun. If went last year and am sad I missed the dragon boats and my brother and I didn't stick around for the fireworks (too bad). I did get to see an awesome tiger bike while walking over the overpass, though (no buses after 6:30 but they block off the freeway overpass so you can walk back . . . it's a pretty easy walk)! There was a tail on the back that moved back and forth and everything! (I actually recently saw it in North Berkeley parked on the sidewalk as I was on my way back from Safeway. <3)

Heh, well, we have tickets to a concert this evening and to the opera on Thursday, and S.'s friend is having a BBQ on the afternoon of the 4th. The only problem is that I need to get x amount of work done this weekend as well, so I think I'm probably going to be spending the evening of the 4th in lab. Yes, I know, I know, that's pretty pathetic, but unfortunately, I need to have something to say for myself at lab meeting on Monday... ^^;

Well, that makes sense. At least you have a lot going on.

BTW, I know you like not having a lot of furniture, but my parents just informed me that I have to sell off all of my furniture before they get here unless I magically find a job before then. Well, a lot of it's not worth much since most of it's secondhand but I have to sell things like our TV and my new bed and my dresser (from Ikea) and such and I have no idea what I'm going to do with no place to . . . put my clothes? (Apparently I am expected to pile them on the floor. Yes, really.) Ugh. Anyway, it's obviously easier if you buy stuff because we can transport it after my parents get here instead of selling it off now or whatever since you live right over there. Anyway, I thought maybe you'd at least want my bookshelf?

P.S. If you hear of ANY kind of job opening, please let me know. I'm just a little bit desperate at the moment. ;__;

Would definitely like the bookshelf. Do you have a coffee table? I've been thinking about getting one, but have been too lazy to look in Ikea.

Ugh, for whatever reason, this didn't show up in my inbox until now. Okay, I've reserved the bookshelf for you.

We have some coffee table-like . . . things (second hand). They're not great and one is kind of scratched up, but if you want either of them, lemme know. I'll take some pictures or something. (On the other hand, if you don't want it when you move, you can just chuck it in the trash.)

Alas, I cannot offer good vicarious weekending for you. Our fireworks day was Wednesday, and I didn't leave the house (and was only awake for eleven hours or so) and this weekend will probably involve me sitting in my office, trying and failing to write for what feels like the billionth weekend.

But, uh, I had hazelnut chocolate mousse tonight. It was tasty.
